The link provided in the "Illustrator" book leads to NOwhere, while the link provided in the "photoshop" book give access to only a part of the lessons.
An important part of video lessons for the "Photoshop" are missing there. Then I saw other previous buyers still waiting for a solution in the Reviews Page, and this was disappointing, as these complaints were apparently penned quite a while ago. To date, I have no solution to my problem and still waiting for a satisfactory answer. The required textbook for my graphic design class is Against the Clock Professional Portfolio series, but that book is really geared for more advanced users.
I am seriously considering dropping that course because the book is incomprehensible. However, in efforts to learn the program on my own, I purchased this. I can truly say that I am learning so much more using Classroom in a Book than the required text.
It's very step-by-step and hands on, which is great. However, I wish there were instruction explaining the "why" behind things; at times it feels a bit robotic. I also wish there were videos that supplement the lessons, but it is a goldmine compared Against the Clock. I do, however, like the fact that it is very step by step, with lots of illustrations, so I know exactly what to do and how to do it.
The book is geared for the absolute newbie, which is great for me. When I finish working through all the projects in the book, I expect that I'll have a good working knowledge about Illustrator, but to become more of an expert I'd need a second book. I love how chapter one allows you to experience various tools at a very basic level, and then later chapters would go more in depth. I don't know how the Adobe Creative Team does it differently from others, but I learned the features and techniques of AI-CS6 with a whole new level of comprehension.
Notes and Tips: - Take your time. I completed lessons in times the suggested durations. Sure, I could have raced through each lesson, but that isn't the point. My objective was to learn AI-CS6 by taking the time to explore each lesson and experiment with the features. The lessons and examples are rich in content. Many of the instructions are specific where every word is important. Skimming the text doesn't work. This is nice because it allows the user to experience any lesson in any order or to refer back to any lesson.
It became obvious as I progressed through the lessons. The examples are so crucial to the book and learning AI-CS6. As other reviewers have indicated, the link to download the files is located on the last few pages. I had no problems finding the fifteen zip files but the 'Download All' button didn't work for me. Even with clicking the download button for each of the fifteen files, I had the files in a minute.
I had two reactions to this first example: 1 AI is an amazing software app for illustrations. Fortunately, the fifteen actual lessons are very well-designed and instructive. Great job creating an indispensable guide to learning AI-CS6! One person found this helpful. I purchased this book as one of the texts to a web based design course. It comes with a CD of lessons. Each chapter has a different "project" to complete with step-by step directions. The instructions are detailed.
At times there is a little too much detail and it becomes repetitive. But, you really do get many of the concepts mastered pretty quickly through the repetition. By the end of chapter three you will definitely know a lot about working with the views of the art boards It probably won't satisfy someone who wants to look up a feature and see all the possibilities for using it one one page.
It's not designed like that. It's designed to be "a Classroom in a Book. If you have not been exposed to Illustrator yet, it's not the type of software you learn by "tinkering". It does so much. There are hidden gems throughout the program.

But can you activate the trial versions to work as trial offline as well or do you need a connection to the web to get a trial key?
The trial versions will work offline for 30 days. After that you will need to activate the product either by going online or by phone if this feature is available in your country. My computer does not have a web connection yet so it is impossible to use the trial on an offline PC because I cannot sign in with my Adobe ID. How are you downloading the installers? What is the size of installer that you have already downloaded?
It is saying that: Access Denied. Reference I have tried all the link and neither of the link seems to be working. So you will need to download the software through Adobe download manager. You can download Adobe download assistant which will let you pause and resume the download process.
You can download it through the Adobe download manager which can be downloaded from the above mentioned link. But Adobe download assistant cannot download the offline installer please fix the download link of the whole offline installers. Adobe Download Assistant will download the offline installer for each CS6 collection or individual download. You only need to authenticate in order to download the trials. I have found the solution. All the above mentioned direct download links will work fine if you are logged into your Adobe.
